Notting Hill Living Wall
We were delighted to be chosen to redesign a living wall for a private client, in a stylish residential area of Notting Hill Gate. The client’s brief was to redesign an existing wall that was not doing well, in a small courtyard space needing greenery. Facing one of the house’s main living areas, this wall is an important focal point.
With our client’s wish to have a thriving vertical wall all year round, we decided to create a microclimate, allowing dense vibrant planting to brighten up the space. The wall also compliments the client’s architect-designed house.
Our design features fourteen different species and 324 plants, which include, among others, Lonicera nitida ‘Baggesen’s Gold’, Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Prostratus’, Liriope muscari, Campanula arpatica ‘Blaue Clips’ and Erigon karvinskianus. Different species have different irrigation requirements, and this too was taken into account.
Having full care of the maintenance, we are now pleased to say that the wall is nicely established and beautifully lush - in spite of the on-going harsh winter!
Client review: ‘The team at Meristem did a fantastic job with the installation of a living wall at our property. We had approached them as our previous living wall was not been properly maintained and was not thriving in its conditions, and we were blown away by how they turned it around. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with them and, in particular, Nina Simoes, our main consultant during this time. She listened to all our ideas, concerns and questions and delivered beyond our imagination. The team is also extremely proactive and responsive about upkeep and maintenance, and we are excited about continuing to work with them!!’
