Our latest Parklet installed at Imperial College White City Campus is a pleacher seat inspired design with tiered seating.
The Parklet is installed on a new road surface and will serve as a bus stop which ferries students between ICL's 2 major campuses.
The parklet sits underneath the busy A40 and provides a calming, green oasis in an otherwise very polluted and noisy environment.
Shade and drought tolerant planting was used to give the plants a good chance of survival in this harsh environment as well as self watering systems to assist our maintenance teams in the summer months.
There is festoon lighting installed above the Parklet which both lights the way during darker hours, but also provides an aesthetically pleasing backdrop to the installation.
The colours of the Parklet are sympathetic to ICL's branding and match Meristem Design's many other installations on campus. The installation of this Parklet completes a larger greening project which started last year. The project involved Parklets, wildflower meadows, semi circular bench and planter modules, raised flower beds and much more!
A green necklace now leads visitors to White City, from the tube station all the way onto campus. The route is lined with greening initiatives designed and installed by meristem and all follow the same identity and colour scheme.
As part of their development, we have also designed and installed 2 Parklets with green roofs and timber pergolas (Outdoor Study Hubs) back in 2021 which allows students and corporate partners to socialise and hold meetings surrounded by greenery.
